Okay, huge warning: if you haven’t watched episode six of *Peacemaker* season two yet, seriously, stop reading now! I just finished it and it was wild, but I don’t want to ruin it for anyone. If you want to stay spoiler-free, go watch the episode *right now* and then come back. You’ve been warned!
The episode title, ‘Ignorance is Chris,’ perfectly fit the sixth episode of *Peacemaker* season two. John Cena’s character believed he’d discovered an ideal world where his father and brother were still alive, and the three of them were celebrated heroes. However, this alternate dimension wasn’t the paradise it seemed to be, confirming a popular fan theory. While the version of Auggie Smith in that world appeared to be a loving father, he was still deeply prejudiced. The reason he’s considered a hero is that in this timeline, Germany won World War II and occupied America. Peacemaker discovered this disturbing truth too late to save Adebayo from a Nazi mob.
Emilia Harcourt quickly realized something Christopher Smith missed – the parallel world was exclusively populated by white people. The reason became clear when Peacemaker spotted a small American flag in the A.R.G.U.S. office. Instead of the usual 50 stars, the flag featured a white Nazi swastika.
As he observed this, his brother Keith – usually a calm, gentle, and kind man, but revealed to be a dangerous extremist – spotted Adebayo walking nearby. He immediately slammed on his brakes, leaped out of his truck, and began frantically honking the horn while shouting a racial slur with shocking intensity.
As a critic, I have to say the scene felt like a direct, intentional rally cry for white nationalists. It was clear from the way it was framed – almost like a coded message – that it was meant to mobilize them. The episode concluded with a truly disturbing image: a violent, hateful group chasing after Adebayo, leaving the audience with a chilling sense of dread and a clear indication of the danger he now faces.
Reverse Christopher Smith, just like his family and most people in his country, was a Nazi. The Sons of Liberty, who normal Christopher Smith previously considered terrorists, are now fighting against the Nazi government, along with Reverse Vigilante. In this alternate world, Adrian Chase is still somewhat foolish, but instead of admiring Reverse Peacemaker, he despises him, and that dislike motivated him to become a hero.
Despite being set in a world filled with Nazis, the show *Peacemaker* still features genuinely good characters, and now there are four more. The biggest question hanging over the last two episodes is how long they can *stay* good. We learned that ‘Reverse’ Harcourt has met the real Emilia, and Economos revealed a shocking truth to ‘Reverse’ Auggie: Christopher isn’t his biological son, as Peacemaker killed his original child and took his place. (Economos really needs to say less, though!) Meanwhile, Adebayo is being pursued by a dangerous Nazi group.
The world Christopher Smith found himself in was far from perfect – and any world containing Nazis never is.
