And here’s the official synopsis for the Power Ballad from the folks at Lionsgate:
Rick, a wedding singer whose best days are behind him, connects with Danny, a former boy-band star, while performing at a wedding. They share a love of music and a spontaneous late-night performance. When Danny uses one of Rick’s songs to launch his comeback, Rick feels overlooked and determined to get the credit he thinks he’s earned – even if it means jeopardizing his relationships. Directed by John Carney (known for films like Sing Street and Once), Power Ballad is a heartwarming story about music, self-worth, friendship, and the pursuit of dreams.
The new film, Power Ballad, explores the complications that can come with following your dreams, as its tagline, “Some songs come with strings attached,” suggests. Written and directed by John Carney, with a co-writing credit for Peter McDonald, the movie stars McDonald, Marcella Plunkett, Havana Rose Liu, and Jack Reynor. Given Carney’s success with music-focused films like Once and Sing Street, Power Ballad promises to be another standout. It will be released in theaters only on June 5th.
