In an exciting development of the current film season, Paramount Pictures has acquired the rights to the upcoming action thriller titled “High Side.” This new project brings actor Timothée Chalamet together once more with renowned director James Mangold. The movie is being compared to a fusion of “Heat” and “Hell or High Water,” suggesting a significant departure from their previous collaboration, the Bob Dylan biopic, “A Complete Unknown,” for which they were nominated for an Oscar.

The movie titled “High Side” is inspired by an untold short story penned by Jaime Oliveira. It features Timothée Chalamet portraying Billy, a motocross racer who had to leave the sport following a devastating accident and a strained family background. As his estranged brother enlists him for a string of bank robberies using high-speed motorcycles, he’s pulled back into a dangerous lifestyle. The FBI relentlessly pursues them, forcing Billy to employ his skills in ways more perilous than he ever anticipated. In an official statement, Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein, the co-chairs of Paramount Pictures, expressed their excitement about working with “visionary artists” like James, Timothée, and Peter and David from Chernin Entertainment. They highlighted that the story mirrors the type of innovative, unique storytelling Paramount supports, and they are eager to kickstart production on “High Side”.

This project combines the best talents perfectly. Mangold, known for creating deeply emotional action movies such as Ford v Ferrari and Logan, seems just right to direct this story. For Chalamet, it marks a daring new phase in his career, being his first significant action role. The movie is now in its early stages of development, with further casting updates anticipated soon.
