I was disappointed to hear that Paramount+ won’t be continuing “NCIS: Tony & Ziva” after its first season. It’s been officially confirmed by both the streaming service and CBS Studios that the show isn’t getting a second season, which is a shame.
The show featured a return by two beloved characters from the “NCIS” universe: Michael Weatherly as Tony DiNozzo and Cote de Pablo as Ziva David. They reunited on screen more than ten years after leaving the original series, and the story showed what their lives were like raising a daughter and tackling new challenges in Europe.
Weatherly and de Pablo released a joint statement expressing their gratitude to everyone who worked on the project and to their fans. They shared how fortunate they felt to reprise their roles and continue the story of Tony and Ziva.
They also expressed gratitude to the actors, production team, and audience for their support, which allowed the story to come to a satisfying conclusion.
The series launched on Paramount+ on September 4th with a strong start, but quickly lost viewers. According to data from Luminate, viewership fell by more than 50% after just three episodes, and this decline likely led to the show’s cancellation.
The cast featured Amita Suman, Maximilian Osinski, Julian Ovenden, Nassima Benchicou, Lara Rossi, Isla Gie, Terence Maynard, and James D’Arcy, alongside Weatherly and de Pablo. John McNamara was the showrunner and an executive producer, working with the main actors and other producers. CBS Studios produced the series.
Just because “NCIS: Tony & Ziva” is finishing its run doesn’t mean you can’t still watch it – all episodes will continue to be available on Paramount+.
