Palantir Technologies. A name that sounds like a villain from a forgotten spy novel. The stock, it closed at $135.38 on Wednesday. Up a bit. 1.77%, if you must know. They integrate data. They analyze things. And people are buying it. 58.4 million shares traded. More than usual. It went public in 2020. A long time ago, in a galaxy not so far away. It’s up 1,325% since then. Which is… something. So it goes.
How Things Moved
The S&P 500, it went up too. 0.56%. To 6,881. The Nasdaq Composite, a bit more enthusiastic, rose 0.78% to 22,754. IBM and Booz Allen Hamilton, they tagged along. Up a little. The infrastructure crowd. They always move together. Like schools of fish. Or politicians.
What It Means, If Anything
Mizuho upgraded Palantir. A “buy” rating, they say. Price target of $195. They call it unique. Impressive revenue growth. Expanding margins. Unlike anything else in software. That’s what the analysts are saying. They always say something. It’s their job. It’s a good thing, really. Keeps the world spinning.
The stock fell about 23% this year, though. People got bored. They started looking at other things. Palantir grew too fast, apparently. Too much success is a problem. Who knew? But they’re still deploying AI. For governments. For businesses. It’s a revenue trajectory, they say. Analysts are backing it. Because that’s what analysts do. They back things. Or they don’t. It’s a coin flip, really.
And now they’re moving the headquarters. From Denver to Miami. Tax expenses, they say. Talent pipeline. As if changing locations will solve everything. As if any of this matters in the grand scheme of things. But they’re moving. And the stock will probably wiggle a bit. So it goes.
