Owlcat announces Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy for PC, PS5, and Xbox

Owlcat Games has revealed that they are working on a new computer role-playing game (CRPG) set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe — Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy. Much like their initial successful release based on the Warhammer 40k universe, Rogue Trader, it seems that Dark Heresy is inspired by the tabletop role-playing game with the same name from Fantasy Flight Games.

Just like in a Tabletop Role-Playing Game (TTRPG), players assume the role of an apprentice Inquisitor, working to expose and eliminate the dark influences and rot that plague the Imperium’s society. Owlcat Games has announced that Dark Heresy will build upon concepts from Rogue Trader and include fully-voiced dialogues.

Dark Heresy transpires during the Noctis Aeterna, a catastrophic cosmic event that struck the galaxy post-Cadia’s fall, and delves into the enigma of the Tyrant Star, a title familiar to players of the tabletop role-playing game. Like Rogue Trader, it offers an opportunity for players to assemble a thrilling group, which may consist of a seasoned Catachan Guardsman or a Kroot mercenary. An Ogryn and an Eldar are depicted in the key art too.

Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy is scheduled for launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms; however, the exact release date has not been announced as of now.

Lex Imperials release date and Season Pass 2 for Rogue Trader

At this year’s Warhammer Skulls Showcase, Owlcat didn’t limit their announcements to just Dark Heresy. They also unveiled that Lex Imperialis, the second DLC for Rogue Trader, will be available starting June 24, 2025. This expansion offers a new 15-hour narrative journey, a fresh companion, and additional content including the Overseer archetype for the CRPG.

Beyond what’s already been revealed, there’s more on the horizon for Rogue Trader! Season Pass 2, packed with two additional expansions, is in store. Here’s a sneak peek at what each DLC offers:

1. The third DLC finds Rogue Traders delving into a Necron vault, meticulously preserved by the enigmatic Trazyn the Infinite.
2. The fourth DLC takes them to a colossal and enigmatic void ship graveyard, where a chilling madness lurks.

Both these expansions will leave every Warhammer 40k fan thrilled!

In a recent announcement, Owlcat shared that each downloadable content (DLC) comes with a unique character to join you, fresh quests that are seamlessly woven into the main plot, innovative game mechanics, and approximately 15 hours of immersive gameplay.
