The cast of Outer Banks appears to be having trouble even when the cameras aren’t rolling. TMZ reports that an argument broke out on set during filming in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
According to the report, Jonas Pate, who helped create the popular Netflix series, is accused of physically shaking and yelling at a production assistant.
Okay, so things got a little heated on set, apparently. I’m hearing Chase Stokes was super quick to intervene when a disagreement started, and Madelyn Cline joined him to try and de-escalate things. It sounds like a tense moment, but thankfully, they were able to smooth it over and get back to filming.
According to sources at TMZ, the show’s set was already a tense environment, and some described Pate’s behavior as typical. Netflix has not yet released a statement regarding the incident.
Jonas Pate, the creator of Outer Banks, has a new series called The Runarounds, now streaming on Prime Video. The show features his daughter, Lilah Pate, and centers on a band of friends navigating life and pursuing their musical dreams after graduating high school. It was filmed on location in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Lilah has often talked about how much she enjoys working with her father. In an interview with People magazine, she shared that being around film sets as a child sparked her passion. She described herself as her dad’s little helper, always wanting to be involved – whether it was on set or even watching auditions.
She explained that she kept working with him, learning everything she could and closely observing his process. Eventually, after she started getting roles independently, he realized how committed she was to pursuing a career in acting.
Outer Banks debuted on Netflix in 2020 and quickly became popular with viewers. The show centers on the conflict between two groups of teenagers – the wealthy Kooks and the working-class Pogues – in a North Carolina beach town, as they search for treasure and navigate complicated friendships. Netflix announced in late 2024 that the series will conclude with a fifth season, bringing the story of John B, Sarah, and their friends to a close.
With the final season on the horizon, people are just as interested in what’s been happening behind the scenes as they are in the show’s storyline.
