Oshi No Ko Season 2 Debuts 2.5D Stage Play Arc in New Poster; All We Know So Far

As a seasoned anime enthusiast who has traversed the vast landscapes of manga and animation for decades, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming Season 2 of Oshi no Ko. The announcement of the 2.5D Stage Play arc is like a dream come true, and the return of the original staff and voice cast only serves to heighten my anticipation.


Preparations are underway for Season 2 of the anime, Tokyo Blade, with a fresh 2.5D Stage Play arc poster. Character from the beloved manga series like Aqua, Akane, Kana, and a new cast are involved in the adaptation process. This 2.5D Stage Play arc is set to commence with the next episode, signifying a major evolution in the anime’s progression. The official website and social media platforms of the anime series have revealed a stunning new visual that encapsulates both the upcoming 2.5D Stage Play arc and the on-screen performance of Tokyo Blade within the storyline.

The anime series “Oshi no Ko” is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video worldwide on November 28th, featuring eight episodes. Subsequently, a Japanese feature film will be released on December 20th. HIDIVE offers a sneak peek into the upcoming episodes of “Oshi no Ko” Season 2 as follows:

“Revenge becomes the main focus for Aqua as he and his twin sister, Ruby, delve into the shady side of show business. Whilst Ruby embarks on a career path mirroring their late mother’s, an idol in her own right, Aqua seeks membership in a renowned theater group to gather evidence about his father – the individual who orchestrated their mother’s demise and had also acted within the very troupe that Aqua now aims to penetrate.”

Beginning April 23, 2020, the manga “Oshi no Ko,” penned by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari, debuted in Shueisha’s seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Jump. Notably, Kaguya-sama: Love Is War was still ongoing in the same magazine at that time, resulting in two manga series authored by Aka Akasaka being published concurrently.

Following the conclusion of Kaguya-sama: Love is War, another manga series titled Ren’ai Daikō, penned by Akasaka and illustrated by Nishizawa 5mm, commenced serialization in the same magazine on April 27, 2023. This move resulted in two of Akasaka’s manga series being published concurrently. Shueisha compiled the chapters into separate tankōbon volumes, with the first one debuting on July 17, 2020. As of July 18, 2024, a total of 15 volumes have been released. The manga reached its final story arc on June 27, 2024.

In 2021, the manga “Oshi no Ko” was the eleventh best manga for male readers according to Takarajimasha’s Kono Manga ga Sugoi! list. The following year, it moved up to seventh place on the same list. On the Nationwide Bookstore Employees’ Recommended Comics of 2021 by the Honya Club website, “Oshi no Ko” was ranked fourth. In 2021, Da Vinci magazine placed it thirteenth on their Book of the Year list.

In the yearly rankings, it moved up from 25th place on the 2022 list to fifth place on the 2023 list. Specifically, it was ranked fifth in AnimeJapan’s Most Wanted Anime Adaptation poll for 2022. Moreover, the debut episode of Oshi no Ko broke records as the most popular premiere ever on Hidive’s streaming service, with a record-breaking number of total viewers, new subscribers, and free trial signups.

As of April 2021, the manga Oshi no Ko had sold over a million copies. By October 2023, this number had grown to over 14 million copies. By November 2023, it reached over 15 million copies in circulation. And by July 2024, the number of copies in circulation had risen to over 18 million.
