Oscars Tease Marvel Reunion As Avengers: Doomsday Stars Join Lineup

The team creating the 98th Academy Awards show held a press conference on Wednesday, hinting at some unexpected moments planned for the ceremony on Sunday night.

According to executive producer Katy Mullan, the show will have several big reunions, with at least one specifically designed for fans of superheroes.

I’m so excited! They’ve announced a Marvel get-together for all of us superhero fans, and it’s going to be packed with big names – real superstars and the actors who play our favorite heroes. Plus, they’re hinting at something really cool – someone…or something…from outer space will be making an appearance on stage! They’re keeping it a secret for now, which just makes it even more exciting!

New presenters include Pedro Pascal, Lewis Pullman, Channing Tatum

The show is adding some exciting new faces! Rose Byrne, Nicole Kidman, Jimmy Kimmel, Delroy Lindo, Ewan McGregor, Wagner Moura, Pedro Pascal, Bill Pullman, Lewis Pullman, Channing Tatum, and Sigourney Weaver will all be joining the cast.

Matt Berry is also set as this year’s Oscars announcer.

Marvel overlap points straight to Avengers: Doomsday

The hint of a Marvel team-up comes as more and more actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe—specifically those with ties to Avengers: Doomsday—are announced as presenters.

A previous announcement already confirmed Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans as presenters.

The cast is growing! Pedro Pascal will play Mr. Fantastic in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, Lewis Pullman is joining Thunderbolts as The Sentry, and Channing Tatum will reprise his role as Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Bill Pullman, and Channing Tatum are all confirmed to be in the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday, which explains the recent talk about a “Marvel reunion” at the Oscars.

Star Wars connections show up too

Sigourney Weaver will be a presenter and appears alongside Pedro Pascal in The Mandalorian & Grogu, premiering May 22nd.

Ewan McGregor is also on the list and is best known to fans for playing Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The “extraterrestrial” could be Grogu (just a guess).
