Oscars 2025: A-listers Who’ve Surprisingly Never Won Despite Many Nominations; Bradley Cooper to Amy Adams

In a short while, the Oscars will begin revealing their new winners. Despite numerous nominations across various categories, stars such as Bradley Cooper (from films like Maestro, Silver Lining Playbook, A Star is Born, and American Sniper) and Amy Adams (Junebug, Doubt, The Fighter, etc.) have yet to win an Academy Award.

Bradley Cooper

Bradley Cooper consistently demonstrates his acting prowess by taking on diverse roles, with his performances in ‘Maestro’ and ‘The Silver Lining Playbook’ earning much praise. However, despite multiple Oscar nods for these films, he hasn’t taken home the award just yet. His recent nominations came for his 2024 movie, where he played a significant role as actor, director, writer, and producer. Additionally, Cooper was recognized with two screenplay nominations for ‘Silver Lining Playbook’ and ‘Maestro’.

 

Paul Thomas Anderson

Throughout his movie-making career, Paul Thomas Anderson holds the record for the most Oscar losses. He’s been nominated 11 times, with five of those nods going to his films, namely Magnolia, Boogie Nights, Licorice Pizza, There Will Be Blood, and Inherent Vice. For Inherent Vice, he also received a nomination for Best Screenplay. Additionally, Anderson boasts three nominations for Best Picture.

 

Amy Adams

Amy Adams, renowned for her role in Nightbitch, is yet to claim an Oscar, despite receiving a total of five Academy Award nominations throughout her acting career. Her nominations came from films like Doubt, Vice, Junebug, The Fighter, and The Master. Adams was recognized in the category of Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Leap Year.

 

Glenn Close

Glenn Close is among the three actresses who have suffered the most Oscar nominations without a win. She’s been nominated eight times for her performances in movies like “The World According to Garp,” “The Big Chill,” and “The Natural.” Additionally, she was nominated on four other occasions for her roles in “Fatal Attraction,” “The Wife,” “Dangerous Liaisons,” and “Albert Nobbs.

 

Thomas Newman

Throughout his career as a composer, Thomas Newman amassed fifteen nominations. His first nomination came in 1994, for his work on Shawshank Redemption. After this initial nod, he went on to compose thirteen more pieces, each of which earned him a subsequent nomination. Notably, he received nominations for the tracks in American Beauty, Finding Nemo, Skyfall, Bridge of Spies, and Passengers.
