In a minor setback, it appears that an Academy Award-winning actress who was in negotiations for a part in Shawn Levy’s upcoming “Star Wars” production by Disney and Lucasfilm has decided to decline the role.
Who passed on the role?
As reported, Levy was considering actress Mickie Madison for his upcoming “Star Wars” film. This actress, who recently won the Best Actress Oscar for “Anora,” is recognized for her roles in “Scream” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Conversely, sources indicate that after receiving an invitation to appear in Levy’s latest Star Wars production, negotiations apparently broke down, resulting in Mikey Madison declining the role (as reported by THR).
Who stars, and what about the plot and release?
There’s no information available about the character Madison will portray, but it’s confirmed that Ryan Gosling has been cast in his role for Shawn Levy’s Star Wars movie. It’s likely that auditions will carry on, and another actress will be chosen to play the female lead opposite Gosling.
Similarly, no specifics about the storyline have been disclosed. It’s reported that Levy’s Star Wars film will not connect with the Skywalker saga.
Our project doesn’t have a set launch date yet, but it’ll be coming after the premiere of “The Mandalorian & Grogu” by Jon Favreau, scheduled for May 22, 2026.
What’s next? Star Wars Celebration this weekend
Disney has postponed the scheduled release date for December 18, 2026, which was initially set for the Daisy Ridley and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy film titled “Star Wars: New Jedi Order.” The current status suggests that another writer is now involved. However, it’s uncertain if this project will materialize, given the expected departure of Kathleen Kennedy from Lucasfilm.
The Star Wars Celebration event officially begins this coming Friday and continues throughout the weekend, giving us a chance to possibly learn more about future projects they might have in store.
Andor Season 2 premieres next Tuesday on Disney+. However, after that, it’s unknown.
Reports indicate that the second season of ‘Ahoska’ is currently being developed, though a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet. It appears that there are no upcoming Disney+ ‘Star Wars’ series in production at this time.
Rumors have been circulating about The Acolyte potentially receiving a second season, but these speculations are unfounded due to the small number of dedicated fans. However, it’s important to note that this isn’t likely because most Star Wars enthusiasts didn’t watch the show. It’s also suggested that the criticism surrounding The Acolyte and Amandla Stenberg may have influenced Star Wars fans to avoid Skeleton Crew as well, which had lower ratings in viewership.
