Orlando Bloom Responds to Keira Knightley’s ‘Pirates’ Criticism After Her Therapy Claims

At the tender age of 17, Keira Knightley gained global recognition for portraying Elizabeth Swann in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Despite some challenging times, she reprised her role in a total of four additional films.

As a young actress, much like Keira Knightley, I embarked on a career that brought me fame, but also subjected me to mistreatment. Later on, I openly acknowledged that the films that catapulted me into stardom necessitated years of therapy for me to cope and heal.

Orlando Bloom addressed the comments made by Knightley regarding the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies, where she mentioned seeking therapy following their production. Bloom, who portrayed Will Turner in the films, stated that it seems like a completely different era now. He sympathized with Keira’s emotions and commended her for her impressive work, while also highlighting the numerous favorable memories he retained from the whole experience.

That experience felt so significant, almost as if it happened in another era, yet it remains distinctly memorable. I’m eternally thankful for it, and while I can relate to Keira’s perspective, her accomplishments are truly commendable. There are many valuable lessons I’ve gleaned from the encounter.

Although the latest film from this franchise came out back in 2017, it remains active with two new movies in the works. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has announced that a reboot is being penned by Jeff Nathanson and there’s also a project starring Margot Robbie in the pipeline, which was scripted by Christina Hodson.

I, Orlando Bloom, am well-aware of the upcoming reboot and I’m genuinely excited about it. I can’t help but admire Jerry Bruckheimer’s workmanship. While I haven’t made any definitive decisions yet, I haven’t closed the door on returning to the franchise myself. After all, “never say never,” right? I hold the experience in high regard and am thrilled to have been a part of something timeless that continues to captivate audiences.
