Opus Trailer: Ayo Edebiri Goes Undercover To Investigate Creepy Celebrity Cult After Pop Star’s Sudden Reappearance

A sneak peek at the horror-musical film titled Opus has been released, featuring Ayo Edebiri on a quest to uncover Hollywood’s sinister secrets. The trailer initiates with Ayo Edebiri, famously known for her role in The Bear, delving into the mysterious resurfacing of pop star Moretti who vanished decades ago.

In the movie helmed by Mark Anthony Green, Edebiri takes on the role of Ariel, a budding journalist at a magazine. This character embarks on an undercover mission to probe into a celebrity-led cult. She mysteriously receives an invitation, devoid of any name, for Moretti’s latest album release event.

As a devoted fan, I’d be thrilled to share that Mr. Moretti is set to perform what I believe to be the most remarkable album of our contemporary era…an album that transcends time, truly.

They board a private jet with the pop star’s entourage, including Murray Bartlett, one of their colleagues. One of the hosts says, “It will be an immense privilege to spend this weekend with you,” greeting Barlett and Edebiri. In her notebook, Edebiri notes down “unsettling welcome committee.

She encounters several well-known figures from the TV world, among them is Clara, famously known as the “most reviled sex symbol” on screen. Upon arrival at their destination, the scene resembles a cult, with people wearing blue attire and consuming food of the same color.

At the listening event, Moretti speaks as though his audience are devoted disciples. Ariel (Edebiri) becomes wary as a string of unsettling events unfold. In the trailer, she queries, “Doesn’t this give you pause?” to someone nearby.

A budding author receives an invitation to a secluded estate owned by a famed pop star who vanished three decades ago. Amidst the adoring followers and intoxicated media personalities, she unexpectedly finds herself entwined in his intricate scheme.

Besides Edebiri, the lineup also features Stephanie Suganami, Tatanka Means, Juliette Lewis, John Malkovich, Bartlett, and more notable actors.

2024 proved to be an exceptional year for Edebri, as she garnered recognition not just for her debut role in The Bear, but also for her impressive performances in Bottoms, Theater Camp, Inside Out 2, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Opus will be released in theaters on 14 March 2025.
