Oops, Amazon IS Shutting Down Freevee Now That Prime Video Has Ads

As a long-time Amazon Freevee enthusiast, I must admit my heart skips a beat at the news of its impending demise. Over the years, Freevee has been my go-to platform for binge-watching shows without breaking the bank, and it’s where I discovered hidden gems like “Jury Duty,” “Bosch: Legacy,” “Neighbors,” and even the thrilling “Alex Rider.

It’s not unexpected that Amazon is ending Freevee now, considering Prime Video has ads. Earlier this year, Amazon made a point to say they wouldn’t do so, but it seemed like only a matter of time. Sadly, Amazon’s free ad-supported video streaming service is no longer available. Farewell, Freevee.

In a statement regarding Freevee’s closure, Amazon explained that they have transformed Prime Video into a premier destination for entertainment. Here, customers can customize their viewing experience by accessing exclusive content produced by Amazon MGM Studios (available only to Prime members), licensed movies and series, additional service content through subscription, live sports, blockbuster films and series for rent or purchase, free ad-supported streaming TV channels, and the entire Freevee content library.

Furthermore, it was pointed out that even though Freevee is closing down, most items would continue to be free for consumers. Amazon stated, “To offer a more streamlined viewing experience for our customers, we are phasing out the Freevee brand. However, this change will not affect the content available to Prime members, and there will still be an abundance of free streaming content accessible to non-Prime members. This includes select originals from Amazon MGM Studios, a range of licensed movies and series, as well as a wide array of FAST channels – all of which can be found on Prime Video.

Even though non-Prime members have a wide selection of free streaming content at their disposal, there’s a question mark over how long this will continue, similar to what happened with Freevee. For now, we can set aside our concerns. If you’ve missed Freevee and haven’t subscribed to Prime Video yet, you can find this free content in the ‘Watch for Free’ section of Prime Video.

Once upon a time, the streaming platform Freevee provided us with exclusive shows such as “Jury Duty”, “Bosch: Legacy”, “Neighbors”, and “Alex Rider”. We honor its contributions to our entertainment.
