One Tree Hill Sequel Starring Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton Reported To Be In Works Without THIS Beloved Star

As a devoted fan who grew up with the captivating tales of love, loss, and brotherhood that One Tree Hill offered, this news has sent waves of excitement coursing through my veins! The return of Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton as Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer, respectively, is like a dream come true. I can almost hear the familiar strains of “I Don’t Wanna Be” playing in the background as I imagine their return to Tree Hill.

The long-awaited One Tree Hill follow-up is nearly here! Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton, familiar faces from the original show, are returning as executive producers for this sequel. They’ll also take on their legendary roles of Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer once more. Unfortunately, Chad Michael Murray won’t be rejoining the cast according to reports.

According to Deadline, the sequel is currently being developed by writer and executive producer Becky Hartman Edwards along with Warner Bros. TV. The Ackles duo, Danneel and Jensen, will serve as Executive Producers, while Emily Moss Wilson joins in as a producer. Notably, Danneel Ackles is expected to reprise her role in the sequel.

Mark Schwahn is responsible for developing One Tree Hill, a show that premiered in 2003 and ran for nine seasons on both The WB and The CW networks. Initially, the series centered around half-brothers Lucas (played by Chad Michael Murray) and Nathan (James Lafferty), exploring their relationships at an early stage. As the story progressed, it delved into the romantic entanglements, splits, and family dramas that characterized Tree Hill. Over time, the narrative expanded significantly to include characters such as Brooke Davis, Peyton Sawyer, and Haley James Scott (portrayed by Bethany Joy Lenz), among others.

In a peaceful yet buzzing town of Tree Hill, North Carolina, half-brothers Lucas and Nathan Scott find themselves caught between brotherhood and competition, not only on the basketball court, but also in the affections of their friends.

Sophia Bush posted on Instagram, “Imagine returning home! Suppose we get the chance to collaborate with exceptional artists and establish a place where everyone can exhibit their skills? Claim our past? Regain control? Pay tribute to our supporters? We’re definitely interested. There’s only one Tree Hill, you know.”

Two decades after the original storyline, the narrative shifts to follow Brooke and Peyton as they navigate the trials of parenthood, dealing with the same complex issues that defined their past – love, insecurities, chaos, and loss.

Previously, Netflix has given approval for the return of Gilmore Girls, a series where Murray made a notable debut prior to taking the lead role in One Tree Hill.

Currently, Bush, Burton, and actress Bethany Joy Lenz co-host a podcast called “Drama Queens” centered around the TV show “One Tree Hill”. The podcast, now on its seventh episode, invites former cast members from earlier seasons to join the discussion.
