As a seasoned MCU fan with countless hours spent dissecting every frame and detail of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I wholeheartedly believe that Hawkeye is one of the most underrated heroes in the franchise. His seemingly “ordinary” abilities have often overshadowed his extraordinary achievements, but those who truly understand the intricacies of combat within the MCU know better.
Discussing the strongest Avengers within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) usually involves mentioning Thor, Scarlet Witch, and Hulk, leading to debates about their abilities, drawbacks, and power rankings. Yet, it’s common to underestimate the accomplishments of characters who may not seem as powerful on the surface.
One such character is Hawkeye, who, despite being considered one of the weaker Avengers, may actually be the strongest when evaluating his overall survivability and accomplishments. The debate continues within the community about whether his exceptional marksmanship should be classified as a superpower.
Clint Barton, known for his outstanding shooting abilities and mastery over archery, shows exceptional understanding of the situation, as proved when he was the only one to perceive and disable Wanda Maximoff during the skirmish at the Salvage Yard. His ability to detect threats surpasses that of other Avengers, even those with superhuman strength or cosmic powers. However, these achievements merely scratch the surface of his skills.
In many instances, you’ll observe Hawkeye successfully defeating challenging adversaries such as multiple Chitauri Soldiers, a full-fledged Chitauri Chariot, Ultron Drones, and various secondary foes.
When facing more powerful threats, Hawkeye fought Black Widow to a standstill while under Loki’s brainwashing, only losing due to her guerrilla tactics. He later matched her skill during the Civil War. Additionally, he held his own against Scarlet Witch and Black Panther, managing to avoid Wanda’s manipulation powers and sustaining himself in both encounters.
In “The Avengers” film, Hawkeye, who was under Loki’s control, engaged in a fierce battle with Thor, each demonstrating their exceptional fighting abilities. Hawkeye relied on his archery skills, whereas Thor utilized Mjolnir. The confrontation ended when Thor overpowered Hawkeye, leaving him incapacitated, and resumed his pursuit of Loki.
The achievements of Hawkeye become even more remarkable when taking into account his deeds during his time as Ronin.
Hawkeye played a key role in vanquishing Ultron, and it’s worth mentioning that fans have jokingly pointed out that the Avengers faltered in Infinity War without him, but prevailed in Endgame with him. This implies that having Hawkeye on their side could be essential for the Avengers’ victory against any enemy.
