One Of The Biggest RPGs Of 2024 Is Getting Major DLC

Capcom is likely planning to add more content to Dragon’s Dogma 2. The original game, a beloved cult classic, was highly anticipated before its release two years ago. While it received mixed reviews due to some performance issues and a lack of content, it was still considered one of the best RPGs of 2024. Now, shortly after its second anniversary, new official artwork suggests that additional content is on the way.

To mark the two-year anniversary of the RPG sequel, the official Dragon’s Dogma Twitter account released new artwork that seems to be created directly within the game engine. While it initially looks like a normal scene, fans quickly noticed two key details. First, there’s a letter on the table written in the fictional language used in the world of the original Dragon’s Dogma. Second, a character in the background, facing away from the viewer, doesn’t seem to be one of the characters featured in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 May Finally Get DLC

A Reddit user named PaiDuck has gathered clues and even translated the fictional language from Dragon’s Dogma. The game uses a basic code where each letter in Gransys corresponds to a letter in English. When deciphered, a message on a table in Dragon’s Dogma 2 artwork says, “Griffins have been spotted flying in from the northern Organ region.” The game also hints at this northern region in item descriptions and loading screens, but players never actually get to explore it.

The latest artwork celebrating the second anniversary of Dragon’s Dogma 2 features a new, mysterious character and is fueling speculation about an expansion set in a northern region. It’s been two years since the game launched to positive reviews, and Capcom hasn’t released any major updates, so an expansion announcement would be unexpected. While Dragon’s Dogma 2 sold well (3.7 million copies in its first year), interest seemed to decline quickly, and there hadn’t been any hints about downloadable content.

Could Dragon’s Dogma 2 Get A New Version Like Dark Arisen?

After a recent hint of new content, fans of Dragon’s Dogma 2 are hoping for major improvements to the game. While performance problems were partially fixed after launch, many players still feel there aren’t enough different types of enemies. This is similar to the original Dragon’s Dogma, which became much more popular after the release of its expanded version, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, a year later.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 could really benefit from an addition similar to the ‘Dark Arisen’ content from the first game, potentially improving its overall reception. While the recent anniversary hinted at new areas, it seems more likely we’ll get a standard expansion rather than a major update. Even so, more content of any kind could be a positive step for the game – assuming the hints turn out to be true. Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a lot of potential, but hasn’t quite lived up to it, just like the original. A new expansion might be exactly what it needs to succeed.
