One Battle After Another now streaming on Prime Video in India
Fans can now rent the action thriller on Prime Video for Rs 499, just weeks after it finished its run in theaters. The film has already earned over $200 million worldwide, making it director Paul Thomas Anderson’s most successful movie to date.
Although the movie earned a lot of money worldwide, its high production costs – estimated between $130 million and $175 million according to the Economic Times – and significant marketing expenses led to it being a major box-office letdown in 2025. Despite this, people are still interested in seeing it, largely thanks to strong performances from DiCaprio and direction by Anderson.
Story, cast and what makes the film stand out
Inspired by Thomas Pynchon’s novel Vineland, this film explores similar ideas of political activism, family struggles, and tension, but with a modern update. Director Anderson created a visually impressive film by using the classic VistaVision large-format filming technique, which isn’t commonly used today, and added new characters and storylines.
The film centers on Bob Ferguson (Leonardo DiCaprio), a man trying to enjoy a peaceful life with his daughter, Willa (Chase Infiniti), after a rebellious past. That peace is disrupted when his old enemy, Colonel Steven J. Lockjaw (Sean Penn), reappears after sixteen years. When Willa disappears, Bob is forced to deal with the life he left behind. Teyana Taylor plays Perfidia Beverly Hills, Bob’s ally, and her connection to Lockjaw adds another layer to the unfolding conflict.
The movie came out in theaters on September 26, 2025, and critics praised its exciting action and the acting of Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, and Chase Infiniti. Now, viewers in India who didn’t get a chance to see it in theaters can rent it on Prime Video.
