As an ardent fan of Olivia Rodrigo, I must say that her journey from a former Disney star to a Grammy-winning pop sensation is nothing short of inspiring! The Traitor singer’s life seems to be a whirlwind of talent, hard work, and a dash of superstition.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’d like to share an interesting tidbit about the journey of Grammy-winning pop sensation, Olivia Rodrigo. Despite her meteoric rise to fame from her days as a Disney star, there’s a touch of the supernatural that accompanies her. Known for hits like “The Traitor,” Rodrigo admitted to having an unconventional pre-show ritual before every stop on her globetrotting tour. Her latest Netflix concert special, Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour, directed by James Merryman, sheds light on this and more, premiering on October 29.
Rodrigo’s routine incorporates a phrase often used by Seamus, a British in-ear tech monitor. Before each performance, Seamus would say it would be easy, which Olivia always repeated as a sort of charm to bring about good fortune.
Rodrigo shared with People that prior to each performance, he says something along the lines of “This will be a breeze,” which is British slang for “It’s going to be effortless.” So, in preparation for every show, I make sure to say to Seamus, “This will be a breeze.
If he didn’t utter the British phrase, the 21-year-old Vampire singer felt that misfortune was imminent. She explained that this would likely lead to a subpar performance, causing her distress. She further stated, “If he doesn’t speak those words, I’m certain it’s going to be a disastrous show. I’m extremely superstitious.
Given the statistics, her GUTS tour stood out as exceptionally remarkable. It kicked off in Palm Springs, California, during February, and led her across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia before wrapping up with a performance in August at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, which was featured in the Netflix concert special.
Rodrigo shared with the media that the main motivation for producing this special was to give viewers a chance to re-live the show, something she’s very proud of. With the GUTS tour now behind her, it’s time for the songwriter of Bad Idea Right? to take some well-deserved rest.
Despite taking time to rest, she considers songwriting as a means of personal wellness, continually crafting tunes in the process. Regarding her recent endeavor, she expressed contentment to the media outlet, stating that she has fulfilled her goals – namely, recording an album, touring, and engaging with her fanbase.
Currently, Olivia Rodrigo is taking some time off, but she’s eagerly anticipating fresh opportunities coming her way. Meanwhile, you can catch Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS World Tour on Netflix for streaming.
