As a long-time follower of Olivia Rodrigo’s career, I must say that her journey through the GUTS World Tour was nothing short of inspiring. Having seen her struggle with pre-performance jitters and nervousness, it reminds me of my first day at a new job – the butterflies in your stomach, the fear of messing up, and the overwhelming pressure to perform.
During an interview, Olivia Rodrigo candidly discussed her apprehension and anxious feelings prior to launching the GUTS World Tour in February 2024 at Acrisure Arena in Palm Springs, California. She confessed that she was petrified when performing on stage for the first time and acknowledged experiencing stress during those moments.
Due to the anxiety of performing on stage, the singer during the debut of her Netflix tour documentary confessed to People magazine, “I was terrified I would make a mistake. In the past ones, I felt like I could finally relax and have fun.” Despite GUTS being her second major tour, she still experienced significant nerves.
Considering her apprehension, she wished for three additional weeks of practice but promptly dismissed that notion and focused on delivering her performance. She admitted to feeling anxious prior to performing, stating to the media, “I felt like I should have practiced more… as if I needed an extra three weeks to prepare for this.
Additionally, she acknowledged the fact that everyone present was there to encourage her, a memory she would cherish for a lifetime. On the other hand, Rodrigo reminisced about the nerve-wracking instances when her hands trembled while performing on stage in front of an enormous crowd, playing the piano. Unquestionably, it was during those initial shows where she faced the most challenges.
Over time, Rodrigo gradually found peace during her shows, and eventually, she reached a point where she could unwind and truly appreciate the performance.
On October 29, Netflix is set to include the GUTS World Tour documentary directed by James Merryman in their collection. This addition will give fans another opportunity to relive the spectacular moments from Olivia’s acclaimed tour.
Rodrigo expressed her excitement about expanding her tour to include fans who couldn’t join in person. She shared with the media, “It’s wonderful that we get another chance to do it all over!
As a devoted admirer, I’d like to express my gratitude to everyone who joined me in the thunderous screams and wild dance moves. The heartwarming moments we shared together are memories that I cherish, and I’m honored to have had the opportunity to relive those special instances for those eagerly awaiting the Netflix documentary.
