As a devoted fan of the Game of Thrones universe, I find myself utterly captivated by the tantalizing glimpses into the making of House of the Dragon that Olivia Cooke has been graciously sharing. Her behind-the-scenes peeks into the filming of Season 2 have not only heightened my anticipation for the series but have also given me a unique insight into the lives and camaraderie of our beloved cast.
Olivia Cooke is managing to keep viewers eager for the upcoming season of House of the Dragon, as she recently posted a collection of backstage photos from the set of Season 2 on her Instagram stories, providing a glimpse into the camaraderie among Team Green.
In one of her posts, there was a picture of her wearing clothes similar to those seen in the Season 2 finale when her character secretly visits Rhaenyra, portrayed by Emma D’Arcy. She additionally posted some selfies with her co-stars.
The series initiates by depicting Cooke and her on-screen son, King Aegon portrayed by Tom Glynn-Carney, in a warm embrace. To add humor, Glynn-Carney, aged 29, pulls a funny face to expose mock wounds on one side of his skull. This on-set makeup symbolizes the injuries he endured during Aemond’s (Ewan Mitchell) dragon attack at Rook’s Rest, as portrayed in Episode 4.
I just couldn’t resist sharing another glimpse into the magical world of House of the Dragon! Today, Cooke posted a video capturing a rainy day on set, where a team donned in raincoats stood amidst a lush, green field by a tranquil lake.
Alongside her on-screen daughter Phia Saban (as Helaena), Cooke shared pictures on social media. One image captured them both in their queenly garb, with Cooke donning a veil at age 30, while another showcased Saban, aged 25, casually dressed near a medieval archway, answering a call. To conclude her posts, Cooke posted a funny selfie in character’s attire, with the caption “Ta, see you in 2 years xo,” humorously hinting at the extended production and broadcast timeline of the series.
Apart from Cooke, Tom Glynn-Carney too gave fans a glimpse behind the curtains. He posted backstage photos showcasing his burn makeup from the second segment of the series. With a touch of humor, he questioned how long it took him to learn how to upload these pictures, inviting fans to witness his trial-and-error journey.
Additionally, actors such as Matt Smith (depicting Daemon Targaryen) were among those who participated. He uploaded a picture featuring Fabien Frankel, displaying them casually smoking and posing next to what seems like an ominous doll figure. Furthermore, Smith amused fans with a humorous snapshot of Rhys Ifans (Otto Hightower’s character), lounging on the Iron Throne during a call and giving the camera a playful middle finger gesture.
Frankel captioned his post “Saison deux inanadshell,” which prompted reactions from fans, including Milly Alcock, who played younger Rhaenyra in Season 1, commenting, “Staphhh I miss yall.”
Both seasons of House of the Dragon are available for streaming on Max.
