Octopath Traveler Hits Huge Sales Milestone

As a dedicated fan who has embarked on countless adventures with these iconic characters, I am absolutely thrilled to hear that the ‘Octopath Traveler‘ series has reached the 5 million units milestone! The journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, from my initial foray into the vibrant HD-2D world back in 2018 on my trusty Nintendo Switch, to now revisiting these tales on a multitude of platforms.

According to a recent announcement by Square Enix, the ‘Octopath Traveler’ game series has now been distributed and purchased more than five million times across the globe.

To celebrate, both ‘Octopath Traveler’ and ‘Octopath Traveler II’ are on sale in digital stores.

‘Octopath Traveler’ made its debut on the Nintendo Switch platform on July 13, 2018, marking its initial release date.

Initially, it was released for PC on June 7, 2019. Following that, it launched on Stadia on April 28, 2020. Then, it arrived on Xbox One on March 25, 2021. Lastly, it hit the shelves on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on June 5, 2024.

By February 2021, the game had surpassed 2.5 million shipments and digital sales.

On February 24, 2023, the follow-up game titled ‘Octopath Traveler II’ became available for purchase on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and personal computer platforms.

It later became available on Xbox Series and Xbox One on June 5, 2024.

By June 2023, ‘Octopath Traveler II’ had exceeded one million shipments and digital sales.

In honor of reaching the five million unit sales milestone, Square Enix has reduced the prices of both their games available on digital platforms.

‘Octopath Traveler’ is available at a 60% discount, and ‘Octopath Traveler II’ at a 50% discount.

These promotions run until January 7, 2025.

Additionally, Square Enix released a special illustration by Rika Okazaki to mark the occasion.

The ‘Octopath Traveler’ series stands out with its distinctive “HD-2D” visual aesthetic, combining the charm of pixel art and the depth of 3D settings.
