After years of speculation, a leak surfacing last week, and Bethesda denying any knowledge up until this past weekend, it’s official: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remastered has been not only unveiled but launched by Bethesda on the Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Players can access it through both the Xbox Windows app and Steam.
Excitedly, just as anticipated, the game continues to operate on the same engine as its predecessor, now enhanced with Unreal Engine 5 handling the stunning visuals. Yet, it’s not just the graphics that have undergone an upgrade; the gameplay has also been refined, featuring improved player movements, leveling systems, and innovative combat sound effects and enemy responses – elements that were absent in the original but were later introduced with Skyrim’s release.

Apart from additional quests and aesthetic items found in the deluxe version, you should be aware that it requires more data for download since the game itself is around 119GB, significantly larger than the initial 4.6GB.
You can immediately download the game if you’re a Game Pass subscriber, whether on your PC or Xbox Series X/S. You can grab it directly from your console or through the Xbox Windows app on your PC. This is a Play Anywhere title, meaning you can play it on both platforms. If you’re not a subscriber, the standard version of the game costs $49.99, and the deluxe edition is priced at $59.99.
As a gamer, here’s how I might put it:
“In the standard version, you’ll find all the original DLC for Oblivion, such as the Shimmering Isles and Knights of the Nine expansions. However, if you opt for the deluxe edition, you’re in for a treat! It includes everything created specifically for this remaster. That means new quests to earn the armor and weapons of Order and Cataclysm, two fresh sets of horse armor, plus an artbook and soundtrack to enhance your gaming experience.
