It appears that an Oasis reunion could potentially be happening! The band’s co-founders and notoriously feuding brothers, Noel and Liam Gallagher, seem to hint at a reconciliation following their recent cryptic posts. On Sunday, August 25, they both shared a mysterious clip featuring the date, August 27, 2024, and time, 8 a.m., on their respective social media handles (previously known as Twitter). This suggests that something significant might happen on this specific date and time in the future.
The official Oasis website also had “27.08.24” displayed on its main page.
The development over the weekend followed reports in the UK press about Oasis performing in the U.K. in 2025, including a 10-night run at London’s Wembley Stadium. Liam fueled the speculation about the possible reunion in a series of social media posts. “I never did like the word FORMER,” the singer said on X Sunday morning.
When someone criticized the possibility of the band performing at Heaton Park in Manchester, labeling it as “a terrible venue,” Liam retorted, “I’ll see you up front; don’t be shy.”
Oasis, made up of lead vocalist Liam and guitarist-composer Noel Gallagher, split up in 2009 following their performance at the V Festival. This iconic band emerged on the music scene in 1991, quickly rising to fame as a chart-topping sensation in the late ’90s. Their debut album, Definitely Maybe, broke records by selling rapidly, and their second album, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, solidified their position as leading UK rock musicians.
Thirty years later, Oasis still enjoys popularity with 21 million listeners on Spotify.
The constant rivalry between the brothers came to an end when a fight erupted between them prior to a concert in Paris, causing Noel to leave the group. Since then, they haven’t shared a stage; it’s worth mentioning that Liam recently concluded a tour with his band, performing Definitely Maybe, to an enthusiastic audience response.
As a die-hard fan, I’ve longed for the day when these two musical titans would share the stage again. While my passion has never wavered, it seems that Noel has more recently shown signs of joining in this dream collaboration. The whispers suggest that his change of heart might be due to the costly divorce he experienced last year, which could have altered his perspective on a reunion.
Back in April, Oasis was nominated for the first time to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. If inducted, it might have led to a reconciliation between the Gallagher brothers. But when commenting on the nomination, Liam dismissed that prospect, labeling the museum and the organization as “nonsense.” In another statement, he suggested his brother enjoys socializing with famous people, so he might attend.
In the possibility of the Gallagher brothers reuniting, it’s been reported by The Daily Mail on Sunday that there’s an empty spot reserved for Oasis at Glastonbury for the following summer.
