The price of Nvidia shares, one observes, has enjoyed a rather… spirited ascent. Fifty-five percent in a year, they say. A considerable figure, certainly. It prompts a question, doesn’t it? Whether such enthusiasm is entirely… justified. One recalls similar surges, followed by the inevitable settling. The market, after all, is rarely so generous as to sustain such velocity indefinitely.
The price-to-earnings ratio – a vulgar measure, perhaps, but a necessary one – exceeds forty-seven. Not exorbitant, not precisely, but enough to give a prudent investor pause. It suggests a certain… expectation. A belief in future earnings that may or may not materialize. One wonders if the collective imagination has run slightly ahead of reality.
Nvidia, it is true, is more than simply a maker of chips. It has positioned itself, with admirable cunning, at the heart of this artificial intelligence craze. A clever move, undeniably. They don’t merely sell components; they offer a… promise. A promise of automation, of efficiency, of a future where machines anticipate our every need. A grand vision, though one suspects the practicalities are considerably more… mundane.
The autonomous vehicle, for instance. A noble pursuit. Yet one pictures the early models, lurching awkwardly through city streets, confusing stop signs with advertisements. The dream, as always, is more appealing than the execution. Still, Nvidia is involved, providing the ‘eyes’ for these metallic travelers. Alpamayo, they call it. A rather poetic name for a complex algorithm.
Stellantis and Lucid are utilizing their platforms, it seems. Uber, too, is a partner. A web of collaboration, certainly. One hopes it translates into something more substantial than press releases and optimistic projections. These alliances, after all, are built on hope, and hope, as we know, is a fragile foundation.
They are investing in OpenAI, Nokia, even Intel. A diversification strategy, no doubt. A spreading of risk. A recognition, perhaps, that even the most promising technologies are subject to the whims of fate. It is a sensible approach, though one suspects it is driven more by caution than by boundless optimism.
Rubin, their latest platform, is described as an ‘extreme-codesigned AI platform.’ A rather grandiose term. It is, essentially, a more powerful chip. A faster engine for the algorithms. They speak of ‘reasoning capabilities.’ One wonders if machines will ever truly reason, or if they will simply mimic the appearance of reason. It is a subtle distinction, perhaps, but a significant one.
CoreWeave is receiving a substantial investment. Data centers, liquid cooling systems… the infrastructure required to support this digital expansion is immense. It is a costly undertaking, and one cannot help but wonder if the returns will justify the expense. The future, as always, is uncertain.
They are even venturing into quantum computing. CUDA-Q, they call it. A software platform to harness the power of quantum machines. A fascinating pursuit, though one suspects it is decades away from practical application. It is a long-term gamble, and one cannot help but admire their willingness to take it.
The free cash flow per share has indeed ‘soared,’ as they put it. A healthy sign, certainly. It provides them with the flexibility to pursue these various initiatives. But cash, one must remember, is merely a tool. It does not guarantee success.

Compared to AMD, their price-to-earnings ratio appears… reasonable. Though one should be wary of comparing valuations. Each company has its own unique circumstances, its own strengths and weaknesses. The market, after all, is not a simple equation.

To buy, or not to buy? That is the question. One could wait for a dip, of course. But the market rarely obliges those who seek certainty. Perhaps it is better to simply accept the inherent uncertainty, and to proceed with a measured optimism. Nvidia is a capable company, positioned in a promising sector. But the future, as always, remains unwritten. It is a gamble, certainly. But then, isn’t all of life a gamble?
