Disney has revealed the stars who will play the main characters in its upcoming live-action version of Tangled. Although many expected a pop star to be cast as Rapunzel, Disney chose actors Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim for the roles of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, respectively. The movie doesn’t have a release date yet.

There was a lot of speculation about who would play Rapunzel and Flynn Rider in Disney’s live-action remake of Tangled. Actors like Sabrina Carpenter, Lisa from BLACKPINK, and Sadie Sink were rumored to be considered for Rapunzel, while Mason Thames, Charlie Gillespie, and Gilli Jones were potential Flynn Riders. Now, Disney has officially announced that Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim will star as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, respectively. The film will be released exclusively in theaters.

Michael Gracey, the director of films like Better Man and The Greatest Showman, will direct the new feature film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who wrote Do Revenge and Thor: Love and Thunder, penned the script. Sources say Scarlett Johansson, known for her role in The Avengers, is likely to play the adoptive mother, though this hasn’t been officially confirmed.

The original film featured Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi as the voices of the princess and the thief who rescues her from the villain, Mother Gothel. Disney seems to be taking its time with the project, likely because of the careful process of selecting the main actors. As of now, no release date or other details have been announced.
