Following the resolution of their issues in Season 1, Noah and Joanne attempt to build a life together, but quickly find themselves clashing over their beliefs. Noah becomes increasingly connected to his Jewish faith, while Joanne wrestles with the possibility of converting. The season takes a dramatic turn when Noah falsely tells his family and community that Joanne is planning to convert, creating conflict between them and becoming the central emotional struggle of the season.
Here’s what happens in the finale of Nobody Wants This Season 2
Joanne doesn’t officially become Jewish, but she starts incorporating Jewish practices into her life in a way that feels right for her. She begins celebrating Shabbat, enjoying traditional foods like challah and kugel, and participating in small cultural customs. A discussion with Esther makes her realize that faith can develop through personal experiences, not just through religious labels. By the end of the season, Joanne seems prepared to begin the conversion process on her own, hinting that Season 3 will continue to follow her spiritual growth.
Joanne and Noah hit a rough patch when Joanne, about to lose her home, asks to move in with him. Noah is reluctant, admitting he’s not comfortable living with someone who doesn’t share his Jewish faith. This causes them to break up, a split that feels both expected and hurtful. Almost immediately, Noah regrets his decision and rushes after Joanne, telling her that her religion doesn’t change how he feels. He realizes love is more important than their religious differences, offering a hopeful, though slightly sad, solution to their problems.
Season 2 also develops supporting characters
I was really invested in Sasha and Esther’s story, and it broke my heart to watch their marriage fall apart. It felt so real – the way they were both exhausted by the emotional weight of things and just wanted different things out of life. It was sad, but ultimately felt like the right decision for them. Then there’s Morgan… her relationships were a mess, especially the one with her therapist, which was seriously concerning and highlighted how dangerous power imbalances can be. Honestly, it was a bit of a warning sign. Thankfully, the show wasn’t all heavy stuff. I found myself really enjoying the unexpected friendship between Morgan and Noah’s mom, Bina. They were hilarious together and provided a much-needed bit of lightness.
The season finale hints at what’s to come in Season 3 of Nobody Wants This. Joanne is starting to explore her faith, and Noah is prioritizing love over strict religious rules. At work, Noah is finding it difficult to adjust to Temple Ahava, a synagogue with more modern beliefs that clash with his traditional values. These developments suggest the next season will focus on how their relationship continues to be affected by their evolving beliefs, love, and sense of self.
