In the recently released season of spin-off series XO, Kitty, Noah Centineo once again embodied his famed character Peter Kavinsky from To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. The actor shared with People magazine the behind-the-scenes story about how he reprised this role.
He found it incredibly intimidating to return to his role. It was extremely nerve-wracking for him, as he stated, since the third installment of the trilogy came out in 2021. Despite some time passing since he portrayed the cherished character from Jenny Han’s To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before book series, he felt compelled to accept the opportunity and couldn’t refuse.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I must admit I was initially apprehensive about reprising the role of Kavinsky due to the perceived risks involved. Yet, the opportunity to work alongside the extraordinary Anna Cathcart, who plays Kitty, made it all worthwhile. I hold immense admiration for Anna and her captivating performance; I’d go to great lengths to lend my support to her outstanding talent.
In the initial film series, the actor portrayed Lara Jean Song Covey’s boyfriend, who was played by Lana Condor. A character named Kitty, acted by Cathcart, facilitated a romantic connection between her sister and Kavinsky by discreetly sending him love letters on her behalf.
The spin-off show focuses on Kitty, who is managing her high school days in South Korea. Centineo commended Cathcart for her dedication and professionalism as an actress. He also disclosed that she was the most well-prepared among all cast members for the To All the Boys films. “She truly deserves it,” he concluded.
It turned out to be fitting that Peter Kavinsky appeared in XO, Kitty! Interestingly enough, Centineo was already in Seoul shooting the second season of his Netflix series The Recruit, coincidentally while they were filming the spin-off series there. Producer Matt Kaplan reached out to him, asking if he’d do a cameo since he was in the city. According to Centineo, he replied with a resounding “yes”!
XO, Kitty season 2 is available to stream on Netflix.
