Nikki Glaser Reveals She Got Paid ‘Less’ Than Former Male Host for Golden Globe Hosting Gig; Adds She Is ‘Alright’

At the Golden Globes, Nikki Glaser spoke about equal pay during her interview on The Howard Stern Show, just a day after hosting the prestigious event. As a comedian, she admitted that she had been paid less than previous male hosts; however, she found it acceptable as she would have taken the job without any payment at all.

In response to being asked about his salary on Monday, Glaser, age 40, responded, “I received a decent payment for it, and I’m satisfied with that.” Previously, there was a host who disclosed their salary in their opening monologue, but I received less than them. Nevertheless, I expect to earn more next year.

“I feel well paid for what I do. I’m alright,” she added.

As reported by The New York Post, it seems that Glaser was referring to Jerrod Carmichael, who hosted the Golden Globes in 2023. During his monologue, Carmichael, who is 37 years old, mentioned receiving a payment of $500,000 for his hosting role.

Previously, stars like Jo Koy (in 2024), Tina Fey and Amy Poehler (in 2021), Ricky Gervais (in 2020), Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh (in 2019), and Seth Meyers (in 2018) have all hosted the Golden Globes.

2020 saw Gervais, who has hosted the prestigious award show on five occasions, tell THR that while he receives a good salary for his role, he chose not to reveal the exact figure. He further mentioned that money is not the primary motivation for any task he agrees to undertake.

I have more than enough funds. I told my representative, ‘I won’t accept payment for anything I wouldn’t do for nothing.’ He responded, ‘Pray tell, never utter those words again.’

Glaser became legendary by being the first woman to singlehandedly host the annual award show. Her 10-minute opening speech garnered acclaim as she playfully ridiculed Nicole Kidman, Benny Blanco, Wicked, Joker 2, Timothée Chalamet, and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
