Nikki Garcia Files for Divorce Following Artem Chigvintsev’s Arrest On Domestic Violence Charges

As a long-time fan of Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev’s love story, I am truly heartbroken to hear about their divorce. They were one of my favorite celebrity couples, and seeing them together always brought a smile to my face. The news of the domestic violence allegations is shocking and saddening.

It appears that another famous couple, Nikki Bella (Nikki Garcia) and Artem Chigvintsev, have decided to end their marriage, which lasted for two years. The divorce filing was made in September 2021, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE from the court in Napa Valley, California.

The announcement about the legal filing followed Chigvintsev’s arrest for domestic abuse charges, and shortly after it was revealed that a source had informed PEOPLE that Garcia had hired a divorce attorney. TMZ broke the surprising news first.

Additionally, it’s reported that on August 29, 2024, he was taken into custody in Napa Valley, processed at the local jail, and granted a $25,000 bond before being freed within an hour, as stated in documents acquired by PEOPLE.

In the process of her divorce filing, Nikki didn’t specify any names. However, in a 911 call placed before his recent arrest on suspicion of domestic violence, it was reported that Artem Chigvintsev claimed Nikki Garcia had thrown shoes at him.

As reported by TMZ, there was a physical separation between Chigvintsev and Garcia, followed by a heated disagreement. Later, though, a spokesperson asked for privacy regarding the matter, as stated by PEOPLE.

Artem Chigvintsev and Nikki Gracia crossed paths during their time on Dancing with the Stars. They share a son, Matteo, who arrived in 2020. Previously, Nikki made headlines due to her high-profile romances, one of which was an engagement to a WWE star that ended in 2018.

Speculation about the former couple arose when Garcia was observed without her wedding ring during her debut at Netflix’s Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef, a live hot dog-eating competition that she co-hosted with Rob Riggle on September 2nd.
