Nightbitch TRAILER: Amy Adams Thinks She Is Turning Into THIS Animal While Navigating Through Motherhood; Watch

In the upcoming horror comedy “Nightbitch,” played by Amy Adams, explores deep, instinctive feelings as she experiences motherhood. Produced by Searchlight Pictures, this film is based on Rachel Yoder’s novel of the same name. The narrative revolves around an artist who temporarily halts her professional pursuits to take care of her child at home. However, she soon finds herself dissatisfied with her newfound lifestyle.

In her nightly routine, an unusual event occurs that feels dreamlike, and this is when her protective motherly feelings emerge in the form of a dog. According to reports, this movie marks the return of Adams to the big screen after a break of three years, during which she last appeared in Disney’s Disenchanted, which was exclusively streamed.

Initially, Nightbitch was planned to air on Hulu; however, Searchlight opted for a theatrical debut instead. Renowned filmmaker Marielle Heller, recognized for her works such as A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood and Can You Ever Forgive Me?, is set to bring Yoder’s praised novel to life on screen.

In the trailer, we catch a peek at Adams’ character undergoing a physical change into a dog, exhibiting behaviors such as eating food in public like a dog would and digging up the front yard. The trailer suggests that the movie combines frightening scenes with humorous aspects.

The story isn’t merely focused on adding unexpected elements, but rather delves into the profound experiences of motherhood and the empowerment of the main character in a primal, animal-like sense.

In the trailer, Adam’s character suggests, “You won’t be intelligent, content, or slim again,” seemingly foreshadowing the emotional struggles a new mother might face following a major life change. Another character explains to the main character, “Motherhood transforms you, it taps into deep, instinctual feelings.”

In essence, the story delves deeply into the conflict between innate human and animal behaviors. Notably, Adams’s character remains nameless, which adds to her detachment from humanity and allows her instincts to be her primary identity.

The three-time Oscar-winning actress has several other projects at hand, expected to roll out in the coming years. They include Kornél Mundruczó’s At the Sea, The Invite with Ant-Man actor Paul Rudd, and Klara and the Sun with Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega.

Alongside director Marielle Heller, Adams shares the role of co-producer on the film Nightbitch. The talented cast includes Scoot MacNairy, Mary Holland, Jessica Harper, Zoë Chao, Ella Thomas, Stacey Swift, Archana Rajan, Adrienne Rose White, Darius De La Cruiz, and Roslyn Gentle.

Nightbitch will be released in theaters on December 6.
