Nicole Kidman Would Like to Revisit ‘The Others’ in a Sequel

Nicole Kidman expressed to The Guardian that she has a desire to reprise her character Grace from The Others. This discussion arose during a chat with her Big Little Lies colleague, Reese Witherspoon, who inquired about the role Kidman might be interested in revisiting.

In simpler terms, Nicole Kidman expressed a profound bond with the character Grace from the movie, mentioning that this film tends to be underestimated, even though she holds it dear to her heart.

As a movie enthusiast, I’d say I recently watched “The Others” – a chilling psychological horror from 2001 that had me on the edge of my seat. In this film, Nicole Kidman portrays Grace, a mom living in an ominous mansion with her two light-sensitive kids. The story unfolds in 1945 as Grace starts to believe the house is haunted, all while anxiously awaiting news about her husband off fighting in World War II.

The movie garnered much acclaim, earning Meryl Streep a BAFTA nomination for her role and taking home several Saturn Awards, such as the Best Horror Film award. On a budget of only $17 million, The Others managed to gross approximately $208 million worldwide.

Despite not having confirmed her return to this famous role, Kidman has shown enthusiasm about starring in a gritty horror movie. In an interview with L’Officiel published in August 2024, she shared that she has a fondness for the horror genre and is keen on exploring it further, expressing admiration for director Ti West.

In addition, Kidman confessed that she believed James Wan was proposing a horror movie when he invited her for Aquaman. Although another film like The Others might not happen, Kidman is poised to collaborate with Sandra Bullock once more in the sequel to Practical Magic, inspired by Alice Hoffman’s The Book of Magic.
