Nicolas Cage’s Son Weston Sentenced to 2 Years in Mental Health Program Following Alleged Assault on His Mother

A judge in Los Angeles has ordered Nicolas Cage’s son, Weston Cage, to undergo a two-year mental health treatment program after an alleged attack on his mother, Christina Fulton. Instead of serving prison time, the actor is given the option to seek treatment at a facility for his mental health issues.

According to Rolling Stone’s reports, Judge Enrique Monguia stated that Nicholas Cage was experiencing a mental health crisis which led him to attack his mother. In his judgment, Monguia said, “Nicholas Cage has a valid mental health issue that significantly contributed to the alleged crimes.” He also added, “It is clear he was undergoing a mental breakdown at the time of the incident.

Before the sentencing, it was disclosed by Cage’s lawyer that the actor had been actively seeking help. The attorney stated that his client has been in a positive mental state throughout this treatment, as he is also preparing for an upcoming marriage. Fulton, who attended her son’s hearing, supported the judge’s decision to provide him with assistance.

In an interview with People Magazine, Weston’s attorney shared that “Weston has seldom felt as great in quite some time. He’s currently in a positive state of mind, preparing for his upcoming wedding. He’s also left the place he used to reside in and is certainly advancing in life.

Additionally, he mentioned that the actor was thankful the court recognized his persistent and responsible attempts at rehabilitation in relation to his mental health, and therefore, provided him with the mental health diversion stipulated in the Penal Code.

Christina Fulton shared in April 2024 that her son had attacked her, almost taking her life.
