As a lifelong Nicki Minaj fanatic, this latest turn of events leaves me utterly disheartened and bewildered. I’ve followed her career since the Barbie days, through her meteoric rise to stardom, and every twist and turn along the way. But hearing about Tameer Peak’s lawsuit against Nicki feels like a punch in the gut.
Nicki Minaj is being sued by a superfan, who claims the rapper publicly slandered his reputation.
As reported by The Daily Mail, Tameer Peak, a 28-year-old fan of Minaj, has initiated a lawsuit against the renowned rap artist in the Los Angeles Superior Court. He is demanding $5 million to compensate for damages to his reputation, emotional distress, and financial losses.
A resident of Newark, NJ is claiming that the 41-year-old hip-hop artist, referred to as Minaj here, accused him of being a “secretly paid spy out to ruin her” back in 2017. In his lawsuit, Peak details an incident where he alleges Minaj invited him to her hotel and then publicly humiliated him in front of around 100K viewers. Furthermore, Peak asserts that during the Super Bowl LIV event in 2020, Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, is said to have assaulted him.
According to Peak, Minaj not only accused him of being on welfare but also referred to him as someone who’s just shy of being eccentric. As a long-time admirer of Minaj for 15 years, Peak maintains that she branded him as an unwanted fan who made unfounded claims about working with her, labeling him a stalker in the process.
As per the previously mentioned UK article, it’s noted that Peak has a reputation for taking legal action. Specifically, there are two ongoing lawsuits filed against New York Police Department officers, and one defamation suit directed at a user identified as Cabria Nelson.
In a recent development, Nicki Minaj has resolved a legal dispute with a blogger who made harmful comments about her. As reported by XXL on August 17, the settlement was reached between Nicki and internet personality Marley Green, also known as Nosey Heaux, whom she initially took to court in September 2022.
Reportedly, Green is said to have labeled Minaj as a drug user (specifically, a cocaine user), an allegation that Minaj acknowledged and confirmed in a settlement. Subsequently, she apologized for making false statements about Minaj and pledged not to make any more false accusations against her.
About Nicki’s recent legal issues, her lawyer Judd Burstein informed TMZ that Peak has been harassing Minaj on social media for years prior to filing a lawsuit with the intention of financially exploiting her. He further stated that if Peak proceeds down this questionable path, he will have to pay Minaj’s legal fees as mandated by California law, which he may come to regret.
