Nicki Minaj has publicly disagreed with California Governor Gavin Newsom after he voiced his support for transgender young people.
So, I was scrolling through X – formerly Twitter, of course – and saw the rapper responding to something California Governor Newsom said on Ezra Klein’s show. Apparently, Newsom was making the point that he’s a huge supporter of trans kids and the LGBTQ+ community, claiming he’s actually passed more pro-trans legislation than any other governor. The rapper clearly had thoughts on that statement, and shared them on the platform.
Nicki Minaj strongly criticized the governor, tweeting, “It’s hard to believe anyone would campaign on harming transgender kids. Even adults wouldn’t support that. Normal people want to see children who are healthy, safe, and happy. This governor clearly doesn’t. He’s out. Let’s move on to the next candidate, I’m over it.”
It’s absurd to think someone would campaign on focusing solely on transgender children. Even adults who are transgender wouldn’t prioritize that. Most people want to see all children healthy, safe, and happy. But not this person – let’s move on to someone else. I’m done with this.

Minaj continued to criticize Newsom in subsequent posts, focusing on his looks and professional success. She wrote that he’s benefited from his appearance, comparing him to Tom Cruise but suggesting his political goals are unattainable. She frequently paired these comments with a picture of the Chucky doll from the movie Child’s Play.
Gavin is an attractive guy who seems to get a lot of opportunities simply because of his looks. He carries himself with confidence, like he’s a star, but he lacks the talent to back it up. While he might try to emulate someone like Tom Cruise, success isn’t guaranteed, and he’d likely be better suited for a supporting role.

While Gavin Newsom hasn’t said he’s running for president, many see him as a leading candidate for the Democratic nomination in 2028. In a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning, he spoke about his own background, noting it’s surprising to consider someone who once struggled with reading and academics could even be a contender. He added that he’s eager to see who runs in 2028 and whether they can rise to the challenge, leaving the ultimate decision to voters.
Things aren’t going to get any better, so it’s time to move on. This is the end of the line. Go have some fun – maybe take a jet ski ride and enjoy life. You’ll be happier focusing on something you can win at. All the best.

In addition to her serious points, Minaj also playfully teased Newsom, suggesting he “Get on the nearest jet ski & let that beautiful hair blow in the wind. It will make you happier than this race that you will not win. Enjoy life. Peace.”
