Nicholas Hoult recently shared at the Red Sea Film Festival that filming will begin in April. Though he was careful not to give away too much, he expressed his enthusiasm for the project, describing the script as “awesome.” He hinted that fans can look forward to some exciting developments for his character, the bald billionaire.
Okay, as a huge Superman fan, I’m completely blown away by what James Gunn is hinting at for the new movie! Apparently, Superman and Lex Luthor are going to have to team up – can you believe it?! It sounds crazy, but Gunn revealed the big bad they’ll be facing is Brainiac, and they’ve cast Lars Eidinger to play him. I’ve heard great things about Eidinger, and Brainiac is such a classic villain, I’m already so hyped to see how this all plays out!
As a huge film fan, I found James Gunn’s comments on The Howard Stern Show really interesting. He basically said the new movie is as much about Lex Luthor as it is about Superman, and he’s really digging into the complex dynamic between these two characters. Nicholas Hoult, who’s playing Lex, told GQ he’s excited to play against type and surprise audiences, especially since his little appearance in Peacemaker Season 2 gave us a glimpse of what Lex was up to while in prison. It sounds like they’re aiming for a really nuanced take on the villain!
Nicholas Hoult has been incredibly busy in Hollywood, on top of his work with DC. He recently appeared in two new films released in late 2024: the legal thriller Juror #2, directed by Clint Eastwood, and the gothic horror Nosferatu, from Robert Eggers. He’ll also star in the action-packed heist movie How to Rob a Bank, directed by David Leitch, which comes out on September 4th.
The new film, How to Rob a Bank, boasts a large cast with Anna Sawai, Pete Davidson, and Zoë Kravitz, and tells the story of a group of thieves who publicly share their daring robberies on social media. Meanwhile, Nicholas Hoult will also appear in Cry to Heaven, a drama directed by Tom Ford. With these varied projects, plus his return to the Superman universe, Hoult is demonstrating his versatility as an actor, tackling both historical dramas and large-scale action films.
The new Superman movie, Man of Tomorrow, is set to be released in theaters on July 9, 2027. David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan will reprise their roles as Superman and Lois Lane, and Frank Grillo will play Rick Flag Sr. With filming starting in April, fans are wondering if the recent partnership between Lex Luthor and Clark Kent will last, or if it’s just a temporary team-up to protect the world.
