NHL 25: Connor McDavid is once again highest rated player

As a longtime hockey enthusiast who has witnessed numerous seasons of the sport, I can confidently say that Connor McDavid’s dominance is nothing short of extraordinary. It’s no surprise to me that he will once again be the highest-rated player in NHL 25, with an overall rating of 97.

In a predictable turn of events, EA Sports NHL has unveiled the player ratings for NHL 25, confirming that Connor McDavid retains his title as the top-rated overall player without any competition.

As NHL 24 nears its conclusion, Connor McDavid is poised to end the game with an impressive overall score of 97. This exceptionally high yet merited rating places him as the undisputed top player in the National Hockey League. In EA Sports’ NHL ratings for NHL 25, this overall will persist, ensuring that Connor McDavid starts NHL 25 with a 97 overall too. At launch, he will be the sole player in NHL 25 to hold such a high rating of 97 overall.

It’s no wonder hardcore or casual fans are not taken aback by this. Year after year, Connor McDavid’s talent and achievements are simply extraordinary and unlike any other player in the season. With five Art Ross Trophies, three Hart Trophies, a Rocket Richard Trophy, and most recently, a Conn Smythe trophy under his belt (even though it was awarded for being on the losing team), by now, you’d expect the unexpected from Connor McDavid.

Year after year, Connor McDavid surpasses the 100-point mark, and this is merely the foundation of his potential. Given this, it’s expected that Connor McDavid will continue to top the list as the highest overall rated player in NHL 25 for many seasons ahead.

For several years now, the Edmonton Oilers have been an exciting team to follow, consistently vying for the prestigious Stanley Cup. Coming so close to winning it last season, I’m certain that Connor McDavid and his teammates will be eager to pick up where they left off in the new campaign.

Fans of McDavid and the Oilers won’t have to wait too long before they can grab a copy of NHL 25, as it’s scheduled for release on October 4, 2025. If you pre-order the Deluxe Edition, you might even get your hands on it a week earlier.
