Tributes pour out from all over, honoring Ozzy Osbourne following his death at 76 years old on Tuesday. A simple search online reveals heartfelt eulogies for the “Prince of Darkness.” It’s only fitting.
Instead of issuing a detailed statement about Ozzy, the New York Giants chose a more impactful approach. For quite some time, music has been a common part of their practice sessions, but this time, they decided to incorporate current events into their playlist.
As a passionate fan, during the warm-ups with light drills, the music maestro for the Giants surprised us with a timeless classic from the unforgettable Ozzy Osbourne. Other songs were certainly an option, even no music at all. However, instead of opting for a melancholic tune like “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” the DJ wisely chose to play “Crazy Train.
The New York Giants (and New England Patriots) pay homage to Ozzy Osbourne
Ozzy Osbourne, while not unfamiliar with the NFL, was actually more passionate about soccer. However, he wasn’t oblivious to the NFL. In 2005, he performed “Crazy Train” before a New England Patriots game. Moreover, in 2022, he took the stage during halftime for the Los Angeles Rams’ season opener.
The New England Patriots bid farewell to Ozzy Osbourne on their social platforms, which seems fitting given that they’ve been playing “Crazy Train” before matches for over twenty years. There doesn’t appear to be any cause for them to discontinue this tradition now.
Listening to Ozzy Osbourne’s classic hit while watching the New York Giants, a team that has triumphed over the Patriots in two Super Bowls, carries a mix of emotions. The tune is great and perfect for pumping up both players and spectators alike. It could well be one of the best songs ever composed to achieve such an effect.

At Giants training camp, there was no room for dancing, as it wouldn’t have fit in. Their focus is on their work, of course. However, what adds enjoyment to the video above is the fact that the Giants are borrowing an idea from the New England Patriots, which makes things more interesting.
As an ardent fan, I’ve noticed that both squads aren’t exactly setting the stage alight at the moment, and they hail from different leagues. However, there seems to be a flicker of potential for a future rivalry between them. This budding enmity might find its roots in the music of Ozzy Osbourne, a small yet significant connection that binds them.
