He penned, directed, and co-produced this film through Proximity Media, his production company. Michael B. Jordan, with whom he often collaborates, was chosen to play the main character.
The film was categorized as a high-budget ($90 million) period vampire movie set in the past. In early 2024, Sony, Universal Pictures, and Warner Bros. all vied for distribution rights, with Warner Bros. emerging victorious by securing the deal in February 2024.
According to reports, Ryan Coogler is intending to develop ‘Sinners’ into a comprehensive series of films, intending to explore the story and its universe across multiple movies.
