New THE TOXIC AVENGER Teaser Is Hilariously Gory in the Best Way

We’ve been eagerly waiting for the remake of the 1984 cult classic “The Toxic Avenger” by Troma Films, and we’re thrilled to say that we’ve finally caught a glimpse of the revamped Toxie. His real name is Winston Gooze, portrayed by the renowned Peter Dinklage. However, a sneak peek wasn’t enough for us, so we’re excited to share an actual trailer, a teaser indeed!

The trailer opens like an advertisement for a fast food joint called Miss Meat. For those who are curious, you can now watch the utterly chaotic teaser for “The Toxic Avenger” right here, in all its over-the-top, radioactive glory.

CAUTION: GRAPHIC CONTENT

This trailer evokes the satirical feel and dark humor reminiscent of Paul Verhoeven’s original “Robocop”, particularly with its humorous take on commercials. It also maintains the graphic violence that was characteristic of the film. The atmosphere of Miss Meat is reminiscent of a 1970s or 1980s McDonald’s, but their food menu items have decidedly mature and R-rated names. When a gang of terrorists targets Miss Meat’s establishment, our protagonist intervenes with his glowing mop fueled by industrial waste, dealing a devastating blow to one of the villains’ jaws.

Under the guidance of director Macon Blair, the revamped version of “The Toxic Avenger” is a fresh take on Lloyd Kaufman’s original cult classic, tailored for today’s audience. The star-studded cast includes Peter Dinklage in the lead role, with Jacob Tremblay, Taylour Paige, Julia Davis, Jonny Coyne, Elijah Wood, and Kevin Bacon rounding out the rest. Interestingly, Kevin Bacon, who started his career in the gory original “Friday the 13th“, is now reprising his role in the new iteration of “The Toxic Avenger“. This marks a significant milestone for him. We’re eagerly anticipating our favorite character, Toxie, to turn some undesirable villains into gooey messes. “The Toxic Avenger” hits theaters on August 29th.
