New ‘Superman’ Merchandise Leak Reveals Villain Previously Denied by James Gunn

As a lifelong DC fan with memories of Superman stretching back to the days of Christopher Reeve, I must admit that the recent revelation about the villain in the upcoming movie has left me both intrigued and slightly confused.

This upcoming summer promises to be the “Summer of Superman,” as DC Universe’s inaugural live-action project, “Superman,” is slated for release. We’ve been privy to plenty of information about the filming process, having watched it unfold in Georgia and Ohio. On-set photos and videos hint at a sinister antagonist, sparking speculation among fans as to whether it might be Ulysses or Ultraman.

Approximately half a year ago, there were suggestions that Ultraman might be the film’s antagonist, yet director James Gunn swiftly debunked this speculation, confirming instead that the primary villain in the movie is Lex Luthor.

As a thrilled fan, I couldn’t help but share the exciting revelation I stumbled upon! A sneak peek from McFarlane Toys for the upcoming movie has finally unveiled the true nature of the antagonist. And yes, if your hunch was that it’s none other than Ultraman, you were spot on!

The upcoming Superman movie has been verified by a recent toy listing, suggesting that Ultraman, rather than Ulysses, will be featured in it.

This list includes a variety of items, such as the “Superman Battling Kaiju” figurine, but the main spoiler is the confirmation of Ultraman’s presence, with “Baby Joe” remaining a mystery.

As a dedicated fan, I’ve noticed that James Gunn has acknowledged the recent leak and responded to it. Concerning his previous remarks on Ultraman, it’s important to clarify that Gunn didn’t rule out this villain entirely; instead, he highlighted Lex Luthor as the primary antagonist in the upcoming project.

In most Superman tales that include Lex Luthor, it’s typically him pulling the strings from behind the curtain. As for Ultraman, if he does make an appearance, it would likely be due to a botched experiment and he might emerge as one of the antagonists. However, Clark Kent won’t face Ultraman as his principal adversary.

Additionally, Gunn pointed out that none of the items from the latest collection offer any hints about the movie’s plot, as he is responsible for overseeing the production of all the toys in the line.
