As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of comic book and movie-watching under my belt, I can confidently say that James Gunn’s Superman has piqued my interest to no end. The teaser trailer alone was enough to ignite my curiosity, but those leaked scenes? That was the cherry on top!
James Gunn’s “Superman” has been a highly discussed superhero film ever since it was first announced. In this movie, David Corenswet portrays the roles of both Clark Kent and Superman, while Rachel Brosnahan takes on the role of Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult plays Lex Luthor.
The movie intends to restart Superman’s tale following the challenges faced by the previous DCEU, and kick off the new DC Universe with a refreshing approach.
Originally titled “Superman: Legacy”, the film portrays Superman’s struggle to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his everyday life as Clark Kent in Smallville, all while adhering to his traditional principles in today’s contemporary setting. However, it has been confirmed by Gunn that this won’t be a retelling of his origin story.
Yesterday, we received the first sneak peek of the upcoming film, revealing several well-known figures joining the main cast. The trailer introduced Mr. Terrific, Krypto, Green Lantern (Guy Gardner), Hawkgirl, Metamorpho, Kaiju, and Papa Kent, along with other secondary characters.
The teaser makes it clear that Gunn is aiming for a classic take on Superman while exploring his humanity and vulnerabilities. It also delivers comic-accurate depictions of the characters—yes, including Guy Gardner’s iconic haircut.
Enthusiasts are ecstatic about what they’ve witnessed, yet the theatrical trailer version contains some additional sequences. These brief glimpses offer sneak peeks into Ultraman, expanded views of Mr. Terrific, a nerve-wracking scene featuring Lex Luthor, and a tantalizing glimpse at The Engineer.
A few additional scenes from the film were shared on Twitter following the screening of the theatrical trailer for the recent Sonic movie.

Following the unveiling of the trailer, Gunn disclosed certain aspects about the upcoming film. He verified its runtime to be less than 2 hours and 30 minutes, and discussed the potential for additional scenes after the credits. Additionally, he touched upon whether these scenes might suggest forthcoming sequels.
In the post-credits scenes of Marvel films, the one instance where I unintentionally created a challenge for myself occurred when I included Adam Warlock. This realization led me to think, “Oh dear, now I have to incorporate Adam Warlock into the next film; and that turned out to be quite a headache.
Instead of crafting entire universes with post-credit scenes, I prefer to offer amusing extras for fans who stay till the end. However, these scenes won’t always serve as setup for the subsequent parts of a universe.
Gunns observation that Adam Warlock seems unsurprising due to his apparent forced inclusion in the narrative, as he hasn’t been utilized well so far, despite being one of Marvel Comics’ strongest characters, is quite reasonable.
