New STAR TREK Comedy Series in the Works from Tawny Newsome and Justin Simien

As a dedicated Star Trek fan and long-time gamer with a soft spot for sci-fi and comedy shows, I can hardly contain my excitement about this latest announcement from SDCC 2023! Tawny Newsome and Justin Simien‘s new live-action comedy series set in the Star Trek universe is an intriguing concept that has me hooked.

As a long-time devoted Star Trek fan, I must confess, this year’s Comic-Con at San Diego has been nothing short of thrilling for me! With updates on “Strange New Worlds,” “Starfleet Academy,” and the latest season of “Section 31,” my heart was already racing with excitement. But then, during the “Lower Decks” panel, Paramount dropped a bombshell announcement that left me absolutely gobsmacked!

On the show “Federation Outsiders,” alien inhabitants of a radiant leisure world discover that every one of their adventures is recorded for broadcast across the entire quadrant. People refer to this as “must-see TV in the 25th century,” implying that it’s a specific era and not much else.

As a passionate gamer and avid Star Trek fan, I’m thrilled to be part of this exciting new project. Alongside Kurtzman, Simien, and Newsome, executive producers include Aaron Baiers, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Roth. This innovative venture hails from none other than CBS Studios, where Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout is nestled. In addition to her role in “Lower Decks,” Newsome contributes her writing skills to “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.”
