New Star Joins Sophie Turner in Live-Action ‘Tomb Raider’ Series

Amazon Prime Video is developing a live-action Tomb Raider TV show, and they’ve begun announcing the actors who will star in it.

Sophie Turner will star as Lara Croft, and Martin Bobb-Semple has been added to the cast as a key character, according to Variety.

Development on the series began in early 2023, and it was officially greenlit in May 2024. Phoebe Waller-Bridge is the driving force behind the project, creating, writing, and executive producing it. She’s working alongside Chad Hodge, who is a co-showrunner and executive producer, and Jonathan van Tulleken, who will direct and also executive produce.

Filming is scheduled to start on January 19.

Bobb-Semple is famous for playing Orlando “Lando” Johnson in The CW’s All American: Homecoming. He started as a guest star and later became one of the show’s main characters in its third season.

He’s known for his roles in the Peacock series One of Us is Lying and the Netflix film Free Reign. He started his acting journey on stage in London’s West End and honed his skills at the Identity School of Acting before getting his first TV part with the BBC.

As a huge Tomb Raider fan, I’m really excited about the addition of Ben Bohm-Semple to the team! It feels like they’re setting things up for a really interesting new spin on the story. Having Sophie Turner as Lara Croft is already fantastic, and knowing there’s a solid group of experienced people working on the show makes me incredibly hopeful for what’s to come – my expectations are definitely high!
