Scooby-Doo just keeps coming back! The famous Great Dane has been a cartoon favorite for over 55 years, and now, according to IGN, he and the Mystery, Inc. gang are getting a new anime-inspired series. Warner Bros. Animation announced the show, titled Scooby-Doo! Gokko, at an event in Brazil. “Gokko” typically means the characters will be reimagined in a cute, super-deformed style. The series is currently planned to premiere in 2027.
This new series could be a revised version of a project called Go-Go Mystery Machine, which was originally announced in 2024. Initial artwork for Go-Go Mystery Machine suggested it would be a more standard anime, unlike the unique style of Scooby-Doo! Gokko. It’s possible both series are still in development – Go-Go Mystery Machine as a longer show and Scooby-Doo! Gokko as a series of short online videos. This approach is similar to what Warner Bros. Animation did with Tom and Jerry Gokko, which focused on slapstick humor for very young children.
A new Scooby-Doo animated series, “GO-GO MYSTERY MACHINE,” is coming to Warner Bros. Animation! The show follows Shaggy and Scooby as they travel to Japan and accidentally release a horde of playful but troublesome mythical creatures, causing chaos throughout the country. This was announced at the #AnnecyFestival.

Since its debut on ABC in 1969, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! has spawned numerous TV series, animated movies, and live-action films. Recently, Netflix announced a new live-action series telling the story of how Scooby and the gang first came together, but updates have been quiet. This series has the potential to be a big hit for Netflix, similar to Wednesday, by appealing to fans’ fondness for the classic franchise. It’s a bit surprising the show wasn’t announced for HBO Max, considering Warner Bros. owns the Scooby-Doo brand. We’ll likely hear more about the Scooby-Doo! Gokko project soon.
