What I love most about the Resident Evil series is how everything connects. Each new game doesn’t just start fresh – it actually builds on what came before, revealing even more about the evil Umbrella Corporation and their twisted plans. Seriously, even the smallest details and characters from older games can come back to matter later on! It’s amazing, but honestly, it also makes the whole timeline incredibly complicated to follow. Thankfully, Capcom seems to know we fans like that complexity, and they keep bringing back our favorite characters while also introducing cool new ones.
The game is set around 30 years after the events of Raccoon City, making Leon Kennedy in his mid-50s – and he’s holding up well! Gameplay will switch between two characters: Grace, whose sections emphasize suspense and investigation, and Leon, who will be more focused on action and fighting. While Leon is a skilled operative, the game aims to show a more vulnerable side of him, as even experienced professionals can feel fear.
While Leon wasn’t the original hero in the Resident Evil series, he’s become the face of it for many fans. He’s played a major role in several games – co-leading Resident Evil 2, starring in Resident Evil 4, and appearing in Resident Evil 6. He’s arguably had the most developed story of any main character, and his popularity is currently very high thanks to the recent, successful remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4. We’ve seen this happen before with Chris Redfield, who returned in Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village. We’re excited to meet the new character, Grace, but we’ll always enjoy playing as Leon and seeing what happens to this experienced, battle-hardened survivor.
I just got a look at the release date for Resident Evil Requiem, and it’s hitting shelves – or, well, digital stores – on February 27th, 2026! You’ll be able to play it on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, the new Nintendo Switch 2, and on PC through both Steam and the Epic Games Store. Get ready!
