As a seasoned Star Wars fan with over three decades of fandom under my belt, I must admit that the ongoing delays and hiccups surrounding the New Jedi Order have become a source of both frustration and intrigue. It’s like waiting for the Millennium Falcon to make the Kessel Run – you know it should be fast, but there always seems to be some sort of obstacle in the way.
First introduced in April 2023, the New Jedi Order marks Star Wars’ cinema comeback since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.
A Star Wars movie without a title is scheduled for release on May 22, 2026, a date that Lucasfilm had not previously confirmed. However, they recently disclosed information about it, including the fact that it’s a sequel to the popular Disney+ series, “The Mandalorian and Grogu.” Filming is expected to start shortly.
On the contrary, recent updates suggest that the film has yet to begin production and is actually paused due to unspecified challenges in its development process.
These rumors come from Daniel Richtman, a reliable industry insider and leaker known for his solid track record. He shared this information on his paid Patreon account, although specific details were not disclosed. As it stands, the movie is not expected to begin production until 2025.
The ‘NEW JEDI ORDER’ Star Wars movie featuring Daisy Ridley has been delayed due to requiring additional work, with filming expected to begin as late as 2025 (according to @DanielRPK).

Previously, it wasn’t just this piece that painted the New Jedi Order in a negative manner. A few months back, Bespin Bulletin shared an article with similar worries about the movie. It suggested that filming wouldn’t start this year due to reasons such as the WGA strike or script problems.
It’s been discussed that Lucasfilm could potentially bring on another writer to assist Steven Knight with the project, but this doesn’t automatically imply that he’ll be leaving the project. Instead, they might be looking for extra support to help polish and perfect Knight’s script as the project continues its development. Knight is anticipated to stay engaged in the project’s progression.
Under the direction of Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, this film chronicles Rey’s mission to restore the Jedi Order. Previously, Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson were assigned to write it, but now Steven Knight has stepped in. Set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, the story delves into a galaxy grappling with the aftermath of war and the demise of the First Order. As per Kathleen Kennedy, Rey is striving to keep her pledge to Luke by reinstating the Jedi Order through ancient scriptures.
Lately, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has stated that she’s already encountering criticism about her upcoming film, yet she intends to disregard any unfavorable comments until she finishes it.
