Looney Tunes fans now have a sneak peek at the upcoming movie Coyote vs. Acme, revealed in a new image from Empire magazine.
This comedy movie features Wile E. Coyote suing the Acme Corporation because their products never work as expected. It’s based on a funny article from The New Yorker written in 1990, and mixes the classic, chaotic Wile E. Coyote cartoon style with a courtroom comedy.

I just finished watching this film, and it’s clear Dave Green had a strong vision as director. The story itself is a collaborative effort – Samy Burch wrote the screenplay, but she developed the initial idea alongside James Gunn and Jeremy Slater. It’s a team effort that really shows on screen.
The movie stars Will Forte as Kevin Avery, a lawyer who isn’t having much luck and is defending Coyote. John Cena plays Buddy Crane, the intimidating lawyer working for Acme. Lana Condor plays Kevin’s niece, Paige, and P. J. Byrne, Tone Bell, Martha Kelly, and Luis Guzmán also star. Eric Bauza, a veteran voice actor for Looney Tunes, provides the voices for many of the beloved characters. Director Dave Green has said that fans can expect to see familiar faces like Tweety in both significant and brief appearances.
Work on the movie Coyote vs. Acme started in 2018, with Chris McKay as producer and Jon and Josh Silberman writing the script. Dave Green signed on to direct in late 2019, and actors Burch, Slater, and Gunn joined the cast the next year. The movie was filmed in New Mexico between March and May of 2022.
I was so worried when I heard Warner Bros. Discovery had cancelled the film back in November 2023, essentially writing it off as a loss! Thankfully, there was a huge outcry from fans like me, and they reconsidered. It’s amazing that the filmmakers were then able to find a new home for it with Ketchup Entertainment in March, and now we finally have a release date: August 28, 2026! I’m so relieved and excited!
The story follows Coyote and his lawyer, Kevin Avery, as they go to court against the powerful Acme Corporation. Their opponent is Buddy Crane, Kevin’s old boss, who now works for Acme. Expect a funny, heartwarming adventure filled with the over-the-top, classic comedy of Looney Tunes.
