Sony Pictures is planning a new installment in the Men in Black film series, as reported by Deadline.
Work has begun on another installment in the movie series. While no actors or director have been chosen yet, Chris Bremner – known for his work on Bad Boys for Life – is writing the screenplay. Sony Pictures hasn’t made any official statement about the film.
I’m hearing from those in the know that as soon as Angus Bremner finishes writing the script, Will Smith is likely to be one of the very first people to get a look at it. It’s really exciting to think about!
There’s a possibility Will Smith could reprise his role as Agent J, but the extent of his involvement is still unknown. He might be the lead again, or he could have a smaller part that helps launch a new character. However, sources say Smith hasn’t committed to the project yet and is waiting to read the script before making a decision.
Originally a comic book, Men in Black evolved into a popular sci-fi comedy series focusing on a covert organization that handles alien encounters on Earth. Over time, the franchise expanded to include multiple movies, a cartoon series, video games, and other related media.
This project represents a significant step forward for the franchise, which hasn’t seen much development recently. With Bremner handling the writing and talks of Smith potentially returning, Sony seems poised to revitalize the series.
