USA Today recently shared a new photo from The Mandalorian and Grogu, showing the pair getting ready for what promises to be their most important adventure in the upcoming movie.
The Star Wars movie hits theaters on May 22, 2026.

Din and Grogu Return to the Fight
The image shows Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal, wearing his full armor on a ship. Grogu is perched on his shoulder, looking alert and prepared.
The shot underscores the pair’s bond and sets the tone for the high-stakes story ahead.
This film continues the story from the Disney+ series and is the first Star Wars movie released in theaters since The Rise of Skywalker in 2019.
As a huge fan, I’m really excited about where the story goes next! It jumps forward after the Empire is defeated, and follows Din and Grogu as they team up with the New Republic to finish off the last pockets of Imperial forces still causing trouble.

A Theatrical-Scale Star Wars Adventure
I’m really excited about this new film! Jon Favreau is directing, and it’s been specifically made for the immersive IMAX experience. What’s even better is that a lot of the people who made the earlier series I loved are back to work on this one, including Jon Favreau as a producer alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce. And I’m thrilled to hear Ludwig Göransson is composing the music – his work is amazing!
This new picture comes after the first trailer for the show was released, and it supports details from recent articles in Empire and USA Today. These articles reveal that the Mandalorian is now focused on a bigger purpose than just being a bounty hunter – he’s fighting for something more important.
